Statement of purpose ( SOP ) For Foreign Apply Student

                               Statement of purpose

I am ……………………… born on …………………, an inhabitant of ……………….. …………… District, a beautiful suburb of ……………Rural. I completed my school level in ……….. as there weren’t any good school and colleges in my hometown previously. So, I have to migrate to Kathmandu in order to pursue my school studies as well as my further studies. I was always keen to learn about how tourism business is done and how it is operated so, I planned to study Travel and Tourism in my higher studies. Later I found this studies and business interesting and joined ………………. in ……………, continuing my Bachelors degree in …………….. I learned different aspect of nature, culture and importance of sustainable Tourism, which somehow relates with my childhood dream, a dream to get involved in learning, promoting and preserving cultures and traditions as well as natural aspects of my country, Nepal. Therefore, I found it a best way to continue my career in tourism field.

However I felt unfulfilled from the knowledge that I received during my Bachelor, seeing the prospective and possibilities of Nepal's natural beauty. I thought I needed wide option and more advancement in my thoughts and technique, which I was pretty sure that I won't be able to receive in my own country. It’s a fact that many students visit abroad to continue theirs educational level and I became one of them. The resource, technology and our technique of our education systems are limited. Therefore, I willing and motivated to pursue my further education on master of International Hospitality Management at Edith Cowan University, 270, Joondalup Drive, Joondalup, Western Australia 6027. Simultaneously, I am pursuing my Academy, 223 vincent St,West perth WA 6005, Australia. Furthermore, I have explained about myself. My academic qualifications, Socio-economic background of my family, reason for choosing the subject and my future plans for my career.

I have completed my 10th standard also known as School leaving Certificate (SLC) in the year 2011 securing 75.13% which now is known as secondary Educations Examination (SEE) and as per my field of interest I joined St. Lawrence college which is located in Chabahil, Kathmandu for higher Secondary Education (+2) in Management faculty where I choose hotel Management and travel and tourism as my major subjects. I completed my higher education in the year 2014 acquiring 65% in aggregate. I joined bachelors in...Collage Address....... Nepal. I was a very hard working student. Though I worked as a part timer in travel agency, I always completed my assignment in given time period and secured good marks at the end of each semester's except for 6th semester. In 6th semester due to my health issues I wasn't able to score great marks and got back papers but I completed it in second attempt. I secured not less than grade B in each semesters with a score of ....... CGPA in aggregate with grade..... and .......division. As Nepal's first language isn’t English so, as per the requirement of the university I gave IELTS examination on ...Date.... and scored ...your Mark.... overall band score with minimum score of 5.5. As I couldn't fulfill IELTS requirement I have to study Academic English Program.

I was very sure that I wanted to recommence my further study in Australia not in Nepal. I did research online regarding this concerned subject and comparatively if I invest my money and time studying in Australia than in Nepal. I would grab more opportunities and develop more ideas over the time period of my study and stay in Australia. Alike Nepal, Australia is also known for its natural beauty, cultural as well as artificial beauty. Which was also another reason I choose to study in Australia. I am really happy and fortunate that my parents are very supportive about my decision of studying in Australia. So my father Mr. Krishna Ram Bhandari is sponsoring my whole education. My father works as vehicle service in Nepal, we have rented our land for business house as well as earn enough from agriculture also. So our financial situation is adequate enough for them to support my studies and at the same time look after other miscellaneous expenses of ours too. After my research online regarding my tuition fees, living expenses and other stationery expenses I was convinced that I can surely live and study in Australia.

In addition, I choose Australia rather than the U.S.A, U.K, Japan, New Zealand and even my home country Nepal because of quality and recognized degree. And ECU (Edith Cowan University) one of the recognized universities of Perth, Australia, which is also ranked as a category 1 institution. The environment and the people all around the Australia are friendly; hence it is a multicultural country. Apart from being a great place to get a first rate education, the mesmerizing beauty of the cities, low crime rate, easy geographical condition, social harmony, multicultural society and the way of living draw me closer to study in Australia. The Australian universities and colleges are globally recognized and have more job prospects and opportunity in the global market.

Australia provides a wide range of subjects to choose and a greater opportunity to use technology while studying, which is less practiced in developing countries like Nepal. Also the technology used there is advanced and are updated to recent advancements and findings. Australia offers a wide range of educational opportunities and facilities for international students along with globally recognized qualification. It is a golden opportunity for me to develop more maturity and patience, growing more self confidence and self dependent so, I believe that Masters of International Hospitality Management from Edith Cowan University would help me to achieve my career aim and objectives.

My interest to study Edith Cowan University came after a long research under courses related to tourism and hospitality. I found several universities offering the tourism and hospitality related courses; however they were not that convincing and promising compared to ECU. Some were too expensive and some were not of my interest for example, some universities have courses related to hospitality but there were other course attached with them. But, Edith Cowan University offers the exact course that I wanted to study and also the subjects that they offer are new and are concerned with present issues in tourism.

Tourism and hospitality is practiced in many places. This combined field will allow me to take my career in a number of different directions. I am interested in cultural exchange, touring, global hospitality operations management and many other tourism related services such as; entertainment, managing people and event management. Tourism is one of the fastest growing service industries in the world, whose great variety makes it very interesting area of working. After completing my master course, I am sure that I will be exposed to global opportunities where I will be able to learn more about other cultures and new trend in hospitality industry and will be able to compare and contrast with my own. That way I will be able to make my study more interesting. I am a environment concerned person as well, so I aim to get new knowledge on preserving and controlling environment pollution. Because, it’s the environment that needs to be sustained in order for tourism to be sustainable. Therefore I will apply the knowledge that I will receive in ECU in Nepal’s tourism sector, hospitality sector and pollution control so that its environment is safer for its locals and tourists.

My courses as per my research from ECU website for Australia, Master of International Hospitality Management is below:

                        Managing people and organization

                        Marketing leadership

Fundamentals of value creation in business

                        Global hospitality operations management

                        Business in global context

                        Working across culture

                        Business event management

                        Current issues in Hospitality management

                        Strategic leadership and stakeholder management

Upon completion of this course from Edith Cowan University (ECU) I shall return back to my home country if I will not be able to join any further related programs. After the successful completion of this course I will be able to get a qualified job here in Nepal in one of the renowned tourism related organizations with handsome salary.

I am fully aware of visa obligation rule which I will surely follow upon my entry in Australia and before entry in Australia. I will attend all of my classes more than 90% and maintain my academic as much as I can. I will pay my tuition fees as per the university rules and regulations and also be aware of not working more than 20 hours per week.

I hope my purpose is convincing enough to you. Hopefully, you would provide me an admission to Edith Cowan University (ECU) and accept me as a valuable student member of your institution. And, I have faith that you would let me pursue my dream to study in Australia so that afterwards I could contribute towards the field of travel and  tourism of my nation through my experience and knowledge from Australia.

Thank you,

Your Sincerely:
